- By Structural Form: Fire sprinklers, essential for safety, are available in two structural forms: closed and open. Closed sprinklers feature a release mechanism, keeping the nozzle sealed under normal conditions. Open sprinklers operate without this mechanism, maintaining an open nozzle ready for activation.
- By Thermal Sensitive Element: Sprinklers can be further classified based on their thermal sensitivity: glass bulb and fusible element types. When heated, glass bulb sprinklers burst due to the expansion of a working liquid, enabling water flow. Fusible element sprinklers, on the other hand, activate when the heat causes the fusible element to melt, thereby opening the nozzle.
- By Installation Method and Water Spray Shape: Installation methods and water spray shapes add diversity to sprinkler options. Upright sprinklers install vertically, dispersing water mostly downward with some reaching the ceiling. Pendent sprinklers hang downwards, directing over 80% of the water down. Ordinary sprinklers can be either upright or pendent, emitting a spherical spray. Sidewall sprinklers mount against the wall, offering a semi-parabolic spray pattern. For a sleek, hidden look, recessed sprinklers are installed within ceilings.
- By Operating Temperature: Operating temperatures are color-coded for easy identification: Orange indicates 57°C, Red signals 68°C, Yellow represents 79°C, Green denotes 93°C, and Blue signifies 141°C, ensuring optimal performance under various heat conditions.
